Plotting the Past

2021-2023

For High Street Heritage Action Zone

Lincoln, Lincolnshire

From 2021 Brew Projects worked with High Street Heritage Action Zone to bring together a series of projects which explore the lower high street of Lincoln’s city centre.

Working with pupils based in local primary schools in the Sincil Bank area, the team brought history to life with a sensory walking tour of the high street. Together with pupils they created dreams for what could exist on this historical street and made maquettes of these ideas. The students had amazing ideas with goals of making their area more beautiful, filled with opportunities for work and learning and which provided services for their community. Notable suggestions from students included, a ‘Home for Everyone’, a ‘Community Gymnastics Club’ and ‘A House Made of Cheese’ (so no one would ever go hungry).

Exhibitions of these artworks were held at St Mary le Wigford Church and at Groundlab (www.groundlab.co.uk) to share the pupil’s amazing ideas with their community.
